(bautizada 20 jul. 1591, Alford, Lincolnshire, Inglaterra –ago. o sep. 1643, Pelham Bay, N.Y., EE.UU.).

Dirigente religiosa angloamericana. En 1612 se casó con William Hutchinson y en 1634 ambos siguieron a John Cotton a la colonia de la bahía de Massachusetts. Organizó reuniones semanales de las mujeres de Boston para analizar los últimos sermones y manifestar sus propias opiniones teológicas. Muy pronto, ministros y magistrados se sintieron atraídos a sus sesiones, en las cuales solía criticar la estrecha ortodoxia puritana y defender un "pacto de gracia. Sus opositores la acusaron de creer que la gracia de Dios había liberado a los cristianos de la necesidad de atenerse a los preceptos morales establecidos. Juzgada por "difamar a los ministros, fue condenada al exilio; como se negó a retractarse, fue excomulgada. En 1638, ella y su marido establecieron una colonia en la isla Aquidneck, que luego fue parte de Rhode Island.
